Two bandidas: Sara Sandoval,
played by Salma Hayek,
is a peaceful, well-educated, and circumspect young
lady. At
the other end of the social spectrum is Maria
Alvarez ( Penelope Cruz ), a volatile,
poorly-educated and
rebellious girl who is the daughter of a field
worker.
The two girls are from
opposite
sides of the social spectrum and in normal circumstances their
paths would never crossed. However, fate unites them as a
band of killers working for greedy land barons
attempt to steal land from their families.
María's father is being forced off his land by a cruel land
baron named Tyler Jackson. In deciding to intervene in the case,
the two girls decide to become outlaws and bank robbers. The
Bandidas are
soon assisted by detective Quentin (Steve Zahn) after the
girls seduce him into helping them.
